Well, it had to happen sooner or later. The last couple of races were threatened with rain. This time we weren't so lucky.
The track was pretty bad when we got there. Must have been raining a lot the week before because we couldn't break into the mid 17's during Friday nights practice and we usually run high to mid 16's. Funny thing was that everybody kept coming up to us and saying how fast we were. We didn't know if we should be glad or worried!
Saturday morning started with a light sprinkle and then we went right into practice. The track started to come in and by the last practice we were running in the low 16 second range which wouldn't be very good for a regular state race but we felt, considereing the track conditions, we were in pretty good shape.
After the driver's meeting, they got off about one and a half classes of qualifying and then the ceiling just fell in. I'd say that an inch or more of rain fell in about 10 minutes. Then the sun came out and it looked like we might get a break. At about 4 pm we were called to run the track in so everybody went out and ran some laps but it clouded back up again and then it rained some more. That was it. They had to call the race.
We'll, I know we must be getting close to a win here! It always seems that our break throughs aways come after a big letdown. Maybe next week at the Nationals? Yaa think?
